Hiking, Biking & Rafting Activities |
Hiking and Biking:
For those who'd rather travel by
their own power rather than on horseback, hiking and
mountain bike trails will take you to many destinations. The
ranch has a limited number of bikes for guest use, or feels
free to bring your own.
West Yellowstone Bicycles
and Freeheel & Wheel offers rental bikes by the
hour or the day.
There are two events that might interest you. The Spring
Bike Ride (which takes you into Yellowstone National Park when
cars are not on the road), and the Fall Cycle tour
of the area in October.
The Rendezvous Ski Trail is easily accessible from the town
of West Yellowstone, Montana. The Rendezvous Ski Trails
consist of over 35 kilometers of gently rolling, beautifully
groomed trails that wind through tall stands of lodge pole
pine and open meadows. The trailhead is at the south end of
Geyser Street and is marked with a distinctive archway.
There is always a good chance that you will encounter
wildlife on the trail system. Elk, moose, pine marten and
bear sightings are not uncommon so stay alert and be
prepared.
Whitewater & Scenic Rafting:
Rafting the Gallatin River is a popular summer attraction
that will truly provide you with an experience to remember
for a lifetime. Enjoy the thrills and spills of an
adventuresome outing, or take a leisurely trip. Scenic and
white water raft trips are available through several
companies servicing the Gallatin, Yellowstone, and Snake
Rivers from June through mid-September. You'll need to
provide your own transportation to the rivers, however,
we'll be glad to assist you with reservations.
There are many other activities from bike races to
triathlons sponsored by West Yellowstone, the US Forest
Service and other communities.
